The University of 狈别产谤补蝉办补鈥揕颈苍肠辞濒苍 has produced plenty of movie-magic-making alums. That means there are tons of flicks out there made with the help of your fellow Huskers! They鈥檝e done stunts, recorded sounds, designed sets and more to make creative ideas come to life on screen.
And some of those Huskers have even worked on films that were recognized at the Academy Awards! Check out these Herbie-approved Oscar-nominated movies that Huskers had a hand in creating:
Gone Girl (2014)
Tim Croshaw (BFA 2000) has been a set designer and art director on some of Hollywood鈥檚 biggest films and TV shows. You can check out Croshaw鈥檚 set design work in the movie 鈥淕one Girl,鈥� which received an Oscar nomination for Rosamund Pike鈥檚 performance.
Trolls (2016)
Scott Raymond (BFA 2003) worked as a cycle animator at DreamWorks Studios and contributed to a number of notable animated movies, including 鈥淭rolls.鈥� The movie鈥檚 hit tune 鈥淐an鈥檛 Stop the Feeling鈥� was nominated for an Academy Award in 2017.
Black Panther (2018)
Josie Azzam (BFA 2008) has been an editor on many TV shows and Hollywood movies. Azzam was an assistant editor for 鈥淏lack Panther鈥濃�娾�斺�妛hich was nominated for seven Academy Awards and won three.
Bridesmaids (2011)
Jessie Graff鈥檚 (BFA 2007) job as a stunt performer takes her to some daring action movies鈥娾�斺�奱nd the occasional comedy! Graff did stunts for fan-favorite Oscar nominee 鈥淏ridesmaids.鈥�
Mister Roberts (1955)
Robert Mueller (BFA 1922) was a two-time Oscar award nominee for sound direction. In addition to being nominated himself, he also worked on Oscar-nominated Hollywood classics like 鈥淭he Jazz Singer鈥濃�娾�斺�妎ne of the first talking films.
Life of Pi (2012)
Trent Claus (BFA 2006) is a visual artist and Husker grad. Claus worked on 2012鈥檚 Oscar favorite 鈥淟ife of Pi鈥� as a visual artist with Lola VFX. The film was nominated for a whopping 11 awards and won four鈥娾�斺�奿ncluding 鈥淏est Achievement in Visual Effects.鈥�
Terms of Endearment (1983)
Sandy Veneziano (BFA 1973, MA 1975, MFA 1978) has worked in the production and art department on a multitude of movies including 鈥淭erms of Endearment.鈥� The film was nominated for 11 Oscars and won five, but what we find most notable about this flick is one of its filming locations鈥娾�斺�妕he University of 91茄子-Lincoln campus!
A Quiet Place (2020)
Alexis Borchardt (BFA 2016) does visual effects and provides production support for films. Since graduating in 2016, Borchardt has worked on a handful of projects, including Oscar-nominated 鈥淎 Quiet Place.鈥�
Beauty and the Beast (2017)
Sirui Wang (BFA 2012) is a production coordinator for Digital Domain. Wang worked on the tale as old as time, 鈥淏eauty and the Beast.鈥� During the 2018 Academy Awards the film received nominations for 鈥淏est Achievement in Production Design鈥� and 鈥淏est Achievement in Costume Design.鈥�
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016)
Ethan Seagren (BFA 2014) is a visual effects artist and technology coordinator. Seagren worked on 鈥淩ogue One: A Star Wars Story鈥� as a technology coordinator for Industrial Light & Magic. The film scored two Oscar nominations: 鈥淏est Achievement in Visual Effects鈥� and 鈥淏est Achievement in Sound Mixing.鈥�
