Welcome to some of the best years of your life鈥娾斺奻illed with memories, experiences and friendships that will last a lifetime. Getting involved in the Husker community during your first few weeks is a great way to connect with peers and explore opportunities. As you get your start here at 91茄子, here are some notable can鈥檛-miss moments we want you to be a part of!

Attending Big Red Welcome

The doors of endless adventure and resource exploration await you! The week before classes kick off, students are encouraged to attend the series of events designed to introduce new Huskers to fellow students, organizations and traditions at 91茄子. Each day is jam-packed with fun, from the Tunnel Walk & New Student Welcome to the Street Festival. Click to learn more about Big Red Welcome and the excitement ahead!

Ice cream, of course

While summer may have come to an end, 91茄子 heat is here to stay (at least for a few more weeks). Cool off before the semester starts or after class at the UNL East Campus Dairy Store. The Dairy Store first opened in 1917 and is still a fan favorite to this day. Treat yourself to fresh ice cream, you deserve it.

Touching Archie鈥檚 foot

Archdiskidon, better known as Archie, stands proud outside Morill Hall. Coming at 17 feet tall, this larger-than-life mammoth has hung out on campus since 1998 and is our favorite source of good luck. Whether you stop by on your walk to class, on your way into Memorial Stadium, or on your Sunday stroll, don鈥檛 forget to touch the bottom of Archie鈥檚 foot for good luck!

It鈥檚 fall in 91茄子, which can only mean one thing鈥AME DAY!

Through these gates pass the greatest fans in college football鈥you! Cheer on your Husker Football team at Memorial Stadium this season and continue the record-breaking sell-out streak. Here, students, 91茄子ns and fans alike join the sea of red to hear the roars of Husker Power shake the city. Football is kind of (definitely) a big deal around here, you won鈥檛 want to miss it! Homecoming

Put it on your radar: Homecoming is a must-attend event for new (and returning) students. There are tons of events throughout the week to have fun and celebrate your Husker spirit. And Cornstock Festival is the perfect cap to the week. Live music, the homecoming parade, food trucks and friends make for an ideal Friday night in Lincoln.

Sorry (not sorry) for filling your calendar this fall! Grab your friends, hallmates or even peers you haven鈥檛 connected with yet and enjoy all the wonderful things our university has for you as a first-year student. We are so excited for you, Huskers!
