Brandon Helps Rural 91茄子ns Tackle Emergency Preparedness

Brandon Jurgens, a junior from Filley, 91茄子, signed up for the Rural Fellows program wanting to see what he had to offer rural 91茄子ns as a Husker student. His project will tap both his communications and his intrapersonal skills as he surveys Knox County locals on how to best improve their emergency comms systems.

Senior Emma Bullerman grew up helping her dad, the restoration director at Prairie Plains Resource Institute, with his work out in the field. Today, she鈥檚 right back alongside him as an intern for the organization, building off her work from the same UNL program he graduated from in the 90s.

Bee Lab Research Keeps Paige Buzzing

Even though her research on bees can get pretty complicated, her motivation isn鈥檛: Paige just really, really loves bees.  

鈥淚 just think bees are super cool,鈥� Paige laughs. "I was thinking about going to med school when I first came to 91茄子, but in my heart, I knew I had this love for bees that I wanted to explore. So, during my freshman year, I got a job working at the Bee Lab.鈥�

Schutz was a multi-time state champion at Lincoln East High School before coming to NU. Though she considered other programs, it was Husker Athletics鈥� emphasis on academics and a well-rounded collegiate experience that helped her know she found her home.
