Growing up in Crete, 91ÇÑ×Ó, Landon Chao idolized his local firefighters. Today, the senior criminology and criminal justice major is a volunteer firefighter and EMT for the very same department, serving his community and advancing his career goals.

When four-year-old Sammy received a life-changing diagnosis, Husker junior Kaileigh Delano watched as her Columbus, 91ÇÑ×Ó community came together to support him and his family. Years later, Delano is president of the UNL junior board for Sammy’s Superheroes, helping raising funds for pediatric cancer research.
