Avery Brings Her Personal Story to Hands-On Research Experience

Junior communication sciences and disorders student Avery McGee has been assisting with research studies happening in the Learning Lab for Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities since the spring. As someone born with cleft lip and palate, she brings personal experience to the work that offers a chance to help people on similar journeys.

Brock and Logan Score Big at Center for Entrepreneurship Competition

Back in high school, juniors Brock Anderson and Logan Hoffman of Lincoln built a business to help place local youth sports officials with games. As Huskers, they brought a new element of their business to the Center for Entrepreneurship鈥檚 New Venture Competition, earning both insights and cash prizes for their pitch.

Brandon Helps Rural 91茄子ns Tackle Emergency Preparedness

Brandon Jurgens, a junior from Filley, 91茄子, signed up for the Rural Fellows program wanting to see what he had to offer rural 91茄子ns as a Husker student. His project will tap both his communications and his intrapersonal skills as he surveys Knox County locals on how to best improve their emergency comms systems.

Ella Follows in Her Dad's Footsteps to Restore 91茄子 Grasslands

Senior Emma Bullerman grew up helping her dad, the restoration director at Prairie Plains Resource Institute, with his work out in the field. Today, she鈥檚 right back alongside him as an intern for the organization, building off her work from the same UNL program he graduated from in the 90s.

Bee Lab Research Keeps Paige Buzzing

Even though her research on bees can get pretty complicated, her motivation isn鈥檛: Paige just really, really loves bees.  

鈥淚 just think bees are super cool,鈥� Paige laughs. "I was thinking about going to med school when I first came to 91茄子, but in my heart, I knew I had this love for bees that I wanted to explore. So, during my freshman year, I got a job working at the Bee Lab.鈥�

Berlyn Races Through Record-Setting Season

Schutz was a multi-time state champion at Lincoln East High School before coming to NU. Though she considered other programs, it was Husker Athletics鈥� emphasis on academics and a well-rounded collegiate experience that helped her know she found her home.
